We have had fun at our swimming lessons.  We dived off the diving boards and touched the bottom and Mr Gilmore taught us to blow bubbles.  He taught us to take a breath and kick.  We had some free time at the end.  Next week we are going to the pool for a free time swim.

The year nines from the highschool came and did a clown show for us in the hall.  They called people onto the stage to splat pies in the year nine's faces.  It was really funny when they spilled water on their faces.

This term we have a spelling game.
This is what it looks like.

This is how you play it.  Every week we do spelling and sight word homework.  If you get ten words right you get to go ten spaces.  Weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8 are bonus weeks, when we can move twice as many spaces.  If you get six words right, you can move twelve spaces.  There are some dangerous spaces.  If you land on one, you have to move back one, two or three spaces.  When you get to 150 you've made it and you're the CHAMPION.

Dr Eastwell's Science Show

At the the science show the man had some liquid air that made things as hard as a rock.  He made a balloon skinny and then he made it go back to normal.  He put some liquid air into a tin and he put the lid on.  The lid came popping off.  He took the air out of a cup and Mrs Stewart had to pull the sides apart.

Science Safari

As part of our Schoolyard Safari Science unit, the children investigated how many small animals could be found in one area of the school. They then recorded this information on a bar graph. This was a challenging activity due to the lack of recent rain, but they managed to find quite a few.

We listened to a safety talk about jellyfish and learned the following interesting facts.

1. Don’t run into the water so that the box jellyfish has time to swim
away from you.
2. Irukandji jellyfish are very small. They are the size of your
thumbnail. They like to live around rocks and coral.
3. The box jellyfish can make its tentacles long and short. They can
stretch up to three metres long. It has 60 stingers. It tips upside
down to eat so that it doesn’t sting itself.
4. The box jellyfish is the most venomous animal in the world.
5. The box jellyfish only stings with its tentacles but the irukandji
stings with all of its body.
6. Always wear a stinger suit when you go swimming between November and
May.
7. Put vinegar on jellyfish stings straight away. Call 000 if you get
stung.
8. Swim where there is a stinger net or lifeguards.
9. Jellyfish rest on the bottom of the sea when they sleep.

Fancy Dress Practice

The fancy dress is this Friday.  We are practicing very hard.  We line up at the door and the leader is Corbin. The year ones are doing The Purple People Eater and the year twos are doing The Popcorn Line Dance.  We get to show our costumes and do our dances.  Can you please watch our movie.

Our Library Visit

The Town Library
We had to cross the street.  When we got to the library we met the librarians.  They read us two stories.  One was called Uncle's Donkey and the other one was called Noni The Pony. 
Then we got to play a game of I Spy and the librarians' names were Fiona, Fran and Tanya.
We got library cards and we borrowed a book.

Our Worm Farm

People need a worm farm because it helps our planet to grow.  The worms make the fertilizer for us.  They eat scraps and then they poo.  The moisture falls to the bottom of the worm farm container.  You need to turn the tap on and fill up the bucket with the liquid worm fertilizer.  Don't let the bucket overflow because it will spill and be smelly.  The worms need to stay wet.  If they don't stay wet they will die.
